The Executive Yuan announced that the first year of social enterprises has now begun in 2014. It also issued the “action plan for social enterprises” to reach its three main goals by “providing a business-friendly environment for the social enterprises”, “strengthening the business property for social enterprises”, and “constructing a network and platform for social enterprises”. They hope that it is possible to achieve such a vision for this project by “creating an ecological environment suitable for a social enterprise to be creative, to run its startup, to grow, and to develop”. Meanwhile, the government agency in charge of this project will also help the social enterprises to look for a public space, and provide reasonable rental land for the social enterprise start-ups to use the resources. The government wished to make use of its power and combine the private force to promote social enterprise business to grow and prosper.

The E-Commerce and M-commerce boom help promote a rising innovative business model. There are plenty of choices to make in each payment situation. The Department of Economic Development Taipei City Government shared bountiful results on its venture business in the Project of Subsidies & Incentives for Taipei Industry. The government ran through 215 projects in 2015. The verified amount of incentives and subsidies is 0.27 billion, which creates a new high in the number of its subsidized cases throughout these years. Currently, Taipei City Government posed an attitude to “let the private business go first and the government will support it” to actively offer assistance in the development of the e-Sport industry. Among the applications of the project of subsidies and incentives, many game business owners received real subsidies for funding. They also invited some creative new venture business from the subsidy manufacturers to participate in the exhibition for some start-up-related activities. They hope this could be a way to help the business owner expand its international collaboration to increase international visibility. In this edition, we have selected some high-quality e-Sport manufacturers to share with you, including X-Legend Entertainment, iDT Digital, Kooco, and Zen Tech, which are all game corporations of this kind. Many expect that more new venture business owners would congregate in Taipei City to run a start-up.

The Taipei City Government has built up the first “IoT experimental platform” in Taiwan. It has become a trial field, which integrates the value chain of a smart city and applied industries. Because of that, it can trigger multiple applications as well as innovations. It can also lead the industry to develop a solution and a model for whole factory exports. To speed up promoting a smart city and IoT applications and innovations, the government finished deploying the scope of communications. The scope can cover the entire WSNs in IoT (LoRa) across Taipei City. People expected that the government would display all types of innovations and applications on the international stage at the Universiade 2017 and WCIT 2017 by opening up the city to serve as a field for experimental use. It can bring in sufficient energy for research and development.

To promote exceptional Taiwan agricultural products and increase the revenue of farms in Taipei the City Government actively promotes Farmers’ Market events at the Taipei Expo venue. This provides an excellent sales platform for featured agricultural products produced by small farmers around Taiwan. At the same time, this also provides an ideal site for recreational shopping. In addition to the sale products, education in agricultural practice is important. The “Small Garden Educational Project” is a call to schools and community colleges in 12 districts to participate in the fun of farming. This combines education and life experience to further realize this new vision of a garden city.

The Taipei International Design Award takes Taipei City as the convergence platform for creative design to discover creative designs with business opportunity’s potentials. This award makes use of the idea of a universal design to improve the city’s economy, community, environment and cultural development. The Taipei City Government connects the idea of “design” with technology industry domain and establishes the “Taipei Co-Space” inside the public service building of the Neihu Science Park to provide a co-working space for micro-enterprise’s entrepreneurs or freelance workers. People who work in-house may discuss, do brainstorming and collaborate by exchanging ideas together via this built platform. They can create innovative commercial thoughts or boosts new business models to create endless business opportunities.

The Taipei City Government’s Department of Economic Development has launched” Taipei City Government Start-up Programs for Subsidy entrepreneurial team abroad” to encourage startup teams to broaden their international horizon, strengthen their connections with the world in terms of funding, talent, and technology.Venture teams with potential that are registered in Taipei are sponsored while they try to establish presence in international accelerators, take part in international venture events, or incubation center development plans.

The Taipei City startup platform “StartUP@Taipei” was officially launched on March 2015. This well-integrated platform not only compiles entrepreneurial data from all fronts, but also gathers all 48 centralized startup-related resources, providing entrepreneurs a one-stop consulting service. Aside from this, it has established the “Taipei Angel’s Club”, a startup-planning instructor guidance team, mix-generational startup brainstorming meetings, 2015 Star of Tomorrow’s startup competition.
