The Taipei City Government is pleased to see the development of emerging technology industries. Using “problem setting by the government, problem solving by the industry” as a starting point, the City Government has organized the Taipei Smart City Industry Field Pilot Program to further promote the Taipei City 1+7 Fields. Cross-disciplinary technology verification has helped Taipei City strengthen its soft power, and has received international acclaim and recognition. Taipei City took the 4th place in the IMD Smart City Index 2021, becoming a model for global innovative technology.

By harnessing its solid capabilities in the field of ICT, Taipei City has successively rolled out numerous digital technologies to upgrade its epidemic control initiatives. These include the COVID-19 Dashboard, the expanded real-name registration, COVID-19 vaccination pre-registration, and Epidemic Prevention Taipei features of the Taipei PASS App, and the COVID-19 Relief Section. These services facilitate the epidemic prevention decision-making process and public service optimization, thereby ensuring the effective implementation of the City Government's epidemic prevention work.

The Eastern Shopping District experienced a crisis as the number of tourists plummeted. To reinvigorate this shopping district, the Taipei City Government has been working with Taipei Eastern Shopping District Development Association to drive the development of the district, push for improvement of the overall infrastructure, improve the software and hardware, and introduce marketing campaigns to highlight local features. The goal is to create a new look and feel for the Eastern Shopping District so that the public can see it in a new perspective and uncover its unique charm.

Startup hubs not only reduce entrepreneurship costs but also serve as a magnet for talent, capital, and entrepreneurs. The formation of perfect startup clusters is highly conducive to their further development. No other city in Taiwan has more startup hubs on such a large scale. Five of these Startup hubs recently inaugurated clusters have unique characteristics which have drawn wide attention and are worth further exploration.
